R3 Possible Read Station Configurations
Some systems offer a combination of these components in a single housing or pcb. For example the Read Head and Reader can be combined (Models 1880 and 1885) needing only then to be linked to an Interface.

Most all components are interchangeable creating completely new systems. Listed and pictured below are all the different read station configurations possible.

The R3 systems are also described as being either simplex or multiplex. Simplex being a single read head and reader per interface and the multiplex being up to 16 read head/reader combinations per single interface. There is one product discussed later (CFC protocol switch) that allows 64 read heads to be multiplexed into a single port at great speeds.

It should be noted, excepting Tags, that any Model number consisting of only numerics is a pcb level component only with no housing or cabling. The addition of the "E" to any Model number then denotes Enclosure and appropriate cabling.
